Untangle ("we", "our", "the App") is operated by Untangle. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application.
Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and authentication provider (Apple, Google, or email). If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive only the relay address Apple provides.
Chat messages. The messages you send and the responses the AI generates are stored so that the App can maintain context and memory across sessions. Message content is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to train third-party AI models.
Memory profile. The App builds a structured summary of facts, patterns, and important events you share. This profile is stored in our database and is used exclusively to improve your experience within the App.
Voice input. If you use the voice feature, your audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. The resulting text is processed the same way as a typed message. We do not store audio recordings.
Image input. If you share screenshots or photos, they are sent to OpenAI's Vision API for analysis. Images are processed in memory and are not stored on our servers.
Usage data. We collect anonymous analytics events (e.g., screens viewed, messages sent, subscription actions) via PostHog to improve the product. These events do not contain message content.
Device information. Standard device metadata (OS version, app version, device model) is collected for debugging and analytics purposes.

Each third-party service processes data according to its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.
Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with Row Level Security enabled, ensuring that each user can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time from Settings → "Delete all data". Upon deletion, all messages, memory profiles, and account information are permanently removed from our database.

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
The AI may detect signs of crisis (suicidal ideation, self-harm, or intent to harm others) in your messages. When detected, the App displays emergency hotline information. This detection happens in real-time during the conversation and no special data is collected or shared with third parties as a result.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
